A. O. Smith seeks an Engineering Supervisor to lead a team of engineers in our manufacturing operations. In this on-site role, you will coordinate daily engineering activities, ensuring safe, reliable, and efficient production of water heating and treatment products. You will drive continuous improvement, troubleshoot equipment issues, and partner closely with operations, maintenance, and quality to meet plant performance goals. The role includes coaching and developing engineers, leading cost-reduction and process-optimization projects, and supporting new equipment installations in a performance-driven, safety-focused culture.
Responsibilities
- Lead and supervise a team of manufacturing and process engineers in a high-volume production environment
- Plan, prioritize, and assign daily engineering and maintenance activities to meet safety, quality, and delivery goals
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives using lean and root-cause problem-solving tools to optimize equipment uptime and efficiency
- Collaborate with operations, maintenance, and quality to resolve production issues and implement corrective actions
- Support installation, commissioning, and optimization of production equipment and automation systems
- Monitor key performance indicators and report on engineering performance, productivity, and safety metrics
- Ensure compliance with company safety standards, regulatory requirements, and engineering best practices
- Coach, mentor, and develop engineering staff through feedback, training, and performance reviews
- Support cost-reduction projects through process optimization, waste reduction, and improved reliability
- Participate in cross-functional projects to support new product introductions and plant upgrades
