Exempt Job Summary
The Human Resources and Payroll Specialist will assist with daily operations of the Human Resources department with a focus on onboarding and payroll responsibilities. This role is essential for maintaining accurate documentation, record-keeping, payroll setup and processing, while ensuring compliance with company policies and practices.
Duties and Responsibilities- Ensure payroll data (including salaries, adjunct and overload contracts, overtime earnings, and vacation payouts) is accurately populated and calculated.
- Submit monthly and semi-monthly payroll files using payroll processing software for faculty, staff, adjunct instructors, and student workers.
- Prepare reports on payroll expenditures, tax payments, and benefit plan disbursements.
- Review, track, and document compliance with mandatory and non-mandatory training (e.g., safety training, anti-harassment training, professional licensure).
- Assist all departments with the onboarding process for new hires. Including, but not limited to, new hire paperwork, collecting transcripts, initiating background checks/MVRs, maintaining compliance with I9/E-Verify, etc.
- Address employment-related inquiries from applicants, employees, and supervisors, referring complex matters to appropriate staff.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

- High level of integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
- Familiarity with Paycom talent management systems or ability to quickly navigate HRIS.
- Minimum Requirement: Associate’s degree in Business Administration or related field.
- Preferred: Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field. At least three years of Human Resources or Payroll experience preferred.
