Summary
The Purchasing Manager for Production and New Product Introduction (NPI) plays a crucial role in the manufacturing sector by overseeing the procurement of materials and components necessary for production. This position is vital for ensuring that the supply chain operates efficiently, enabling the company to meet production targets and introduce new products successfully. Based in Lebanon, Tennessee, this permanent, full-time role requires a strategic thinker with a strong background in purchasing and supply chain management.
Responsibilities- Develop and implement purchasing strategies to optimize supply chain efficiency.
- Manage supplier relationships to ensure quality, cost-effectiveness, and timely delivery of materials.
- Collaborate with production and engineering teams to identify material requirements for new product introductions.
- Manage procurement activities through all NPI stage‑gate reviews from concept through production release.
- Conduct market research to identify potential suppliers and assess their capabilities.
- Negotiate contracts and agreements with suppliers to secure favorable terms.
- Coordinate prototype materials, long‑lead components, tooling, and production launch inventory.
- Monitor inventory levels and forecast material needs to prevent production delays.
- Ensure compliance with company policies and industry regulations in all purchasing activities.
- Support supplier PPAP, APQP, and launch readiness activities where applicable.
- Analyze purchasing data to identify trends and opportunities for cost savings.
- Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
- A minimum of 7 years of experience in purchasing or supply chain management within the manufacturing industry.
- Minimum of 3 years leading buyers or purchasing teams.
- Strong negotiation and communication skills.
- Proficiency in procurement software and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Ability to analyze data and make informed decisions.
- Advanced knowledge of ERP/MRP purchasing processes with hands on Net Suite experience preferred.
- Strong understanding of MRP, BOM and Demand Planning.
- Knowledge of industry regulations and best practices in procurement.
