Job Overview

Vanderbilt University Medical Center is seeking an Obstetrics/Gynecology Registered Nurse to assess, implement, and evaluate care for patients within the unit. The position reports directly to the Clinical Director of the unit and works closely with nursing staff, physicians, ancillary services, patients, and families. The role requires self‑direction, quality focus, and strong interpersonal communication skills.

• Collaborates in establishing the plan of care, coordinates and implements care delivery while anticipating patient care needs across the continuum.
• Analyzes comprehensive information pertinent to the patient's care and management to determine nursing diagnosis.
• Continually utilizes the nursing process to evaluate patient's progress towards goals and applies appropriate interventions to ensure effective outcomes.
• Employs strategies to promote health and a safe and healthy environment.
• Additional duties may be assigned as a general overview of the position.

• Nursing Patient Assessment & Evaluation (Novice):
  Demonstrates ability to assess and evaluate patients, conduct primary care patient interviews and physical examinations, and recognize problems that require contact with the patient's primary care provider or other team members.
• Nursing Patient Education (Novice):
  Provides patient education in moderate difficulty practical applications.
• Care Planning (Novice):
  Anticipates resource needs, identifies tasks, sets priorities, schedules activities, meets deadlines, organizes work, and handles multiple assignments simultaneously.
• Evidence‑Based Practice (Novice):
  Searches for evidence to answer clinical questions and works under guidance to accomplish assignments.

• Registered Nurse licensure (LIC‑Registered Nurse).
• Minimum 1 year of relevant experience in obstetrics/gynecology nursing.
• Graduate of an approved discipline‑specific program.
• Experience in nursing care planning, assessment, and application of evidence‑based practice.
