Position Overview

• Education: Graduate from an accredited school of nursing, current New Hampshire license.
• BCLS certification: Current upon hire.
• ACLS certification: Current within 90 days of hire.

• Professional Affiliations: Active participation in in‑services, educational programs, conferences; membership in relevant organizations.
• Age of patients treated: Pediatric through geriatric.

Physical activity: sitting 34–66%, standing 67–100%, walking 67–100%, bending 67–100%, squatting 67–100%, crouching 67–100%, kneeling 34–66%, reaching 67–100%. Upper extremity use 67–100%. Push/pull/lift/carry capacities listed; pre‑employment physical required.

• Accountable for meeting the complete nursing needs of a defined group of patients using the nursing process and the medical plan of care in accordance with the New Hampshire Nurse Practice Act and the Patient Bill of Rights.
• Knowledge of medications and proper administration based on patient age and clinical condition; follows the seven medication rights; reduces medication error potential.
• Performs patient care using an integrated approach that optimizes patient safety and reduces medical/healthcare errors.
• Formulates an individual plan of care, revises it as indicated by the patient’s response to treatment, and evaluates overall plan for effectiveness.
• Communicates clinical information appropriately to support an interdisciplinary approach; collaborates with all ancillary departments.
• Coordinates and supervises patient care as necessary.
• Organizes and prioritizes job function; demonstrates critical thinking skills, using logic and reasoning to identify strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions.
• Performs physical/psychosocial assessment to collect data; follows written plan of care, standards, practice guidelines.
• Uses assessment data to identify patient care needs, including patient education and discharge planning.
• Recognizes and reports abnormal assessment data; incorporates findings into the plan of care and revises expected outcomes.
• Accurately and legibly documents all patient care activities, including wound assessment, patient care teaching, progress toward goals, medication administration, nursing flow sheets, and all assessment forms.
• Delegates tasks to the health care team members appropriately.
• Demonstrates unit‑specific competencies.
