Position Summary

Med/Surg2

North – Vanderbilt University Medical Center – Nashville, Tennessee. Responsible for assisting the RN in assessing, implementing, and evaluating care for various patients within the facility. Reports directly to the charge nurse and Clinical Director of the unit. Works in conjunction with other nursing and ancillary staff, physicians, patients, and families to collaborate on quality of care across the continuum. Requires self‑directed, quality‑focused work with strong interpersonal communication.

• Assist RN with medical histories.
• Assigned duties within LPN scope of care practice.
• Provide direct patient care, including medication administration, treatments, and IV initiation within LPN scope of care practice.
• Adhere to practices and policies outlined to ensure patient safety and follow infection control standards.

• Clinical Patient Documentation (Novice) – Demonstrates sufficient fundamental proficiency to successfully demonstrate patient documentation in practical applications of moderate difficulty. Works under direction while completing assignments, collecting, reporting, and recording objective and subjective data accurately and timely.
• LPN Patient Education (Novice) – Demonstrates sufficient fundamental proficiency to successfully demonstrate patient education in practical applications of moderate difficulty. Works under direction while completing assignments.
• LPN Care Planning (Novice) – Participates in development of the plan of care with the licensed healthcare team. Anticipates resource needs, identifies tasks, sets priorities, schedules activities, meets deadlines, and organizes work. Handles multiple assignments simultaneously and adapts to changes with minimal disruption.
• Clinical Competency (Novice) – Demonstrates sufficient fundamental proficiency to successfully demonstrate nursing interventions such as wound care, point‑of‑care testing, vital signs, etc., in practical applications of moderate difficulty. Works under direction while completing assignments.

• Performs routine tasks that may impact team performance with occasional guidance.
• Utilizes discretion and research to solve routine problems.
• Applies knowledge of standards, processes, and procedures relevant to the job.
• Provides guidance to entry‑level co‑workers.

  Licensed Practical Nurse – Tennessee.
• Work Experience:
  
  1 year relevant experience.
• Education:
  
  Graduate of an approved discipline‑specific program.
