Shipping and Receiving Clerk

Job Duties

• Communicate with team utilizing proper techniques to create a productive team with a high level or moral.
• Audits outbound and inbound shipments prior to loading and put away processes.
• Provides direct support to the warehouse supervisor to ensure all tasks within the department are completed in a timely manner and to the standards set forth by the warehouse manager.
• Prepares items for shipment.
• Verifies, maintains, and routes records of incoming and outgoing shipments.
• Affixes shipping labels on packed cartons, crates, or pallets.
• Receive damaged or returned goods.
• Unloads trucks, checks, and counts all items, and inspects for damage.
• Compares identifying information and counts, weights, or measures items of incoming or outgoing shipments to verify shipments against bills of lading, invoices, orders, or other records. Report discrepancies to team leads and warehouse supervisor.
• Operate forklift or hand truck to move, convey, or hoist items from shipping and receiving area to carriers, storage, or work areas.
• Participates in annual physical inventory.
• Other tasks as assigned

• High school diploma or GED;
  Further education a definite asset
• Ability to communicate in an effective manner to obtain required standards within the department.
• Basic knowledge of shipping operations and the ability to apply shipping/receiving methods; 2+ year minimum
• Ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing within the department and other areas of the company as necessary.
• Ability to interpret and work from oral and written instructions.
• Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations.
• Ability to legibly document data for record keeping purposes.
• Ability to remain calm and professional during peak periods of activity.
• Knowledge of inventory systems and the ability to maintain a cost-effective inventory.
• Ability to operate a forklift.
• Excellent communication skills in working effectively with co-workers.
• Knowledge of organizational methods and the ability to manage multiple tasks/duties simultaneously.
• Ability to work daily and extended hours as required.
