Ledyard Public Schools is seeking dedicated Building Substitute Teachers for Gallup Hill School for the  school year. Building substitutes will be assigned to a singular school. You will report daily to the building administrator each day while school is in session.

As a building substitute teacher, you serve a vitally important function in the education of our students. Building substitute teachers are responsible for following lesson plans, supervising students, maintaining a classroom environment conducive to learning, and being respectful of the needs of students.

Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent required
  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred (see below)
  • Connecticut teaching certificate preferred
  • Enthusiasm for teaching and learning
  • Applicants must be 18 or older

For educators who do not have a bachelor’s degree, a district can apply for a waiver using the following steps:
The district may submit an online application detailing the applicant’s experience with school-age children.

Pay
  • The daily rate for building substitute teachers is $130.

Physical Requirements
  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer or standing to teach
  • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times
  • Must be able to traverse the classroom and adjust one's tone and height, by bending or leaning, in order to teach each child
