Ledyard Public Schools is seeking a dynamic, passionate Elementary Literacy Coach, who is committed to building a love of reading and writing in all students. As an Elementary Literacy Coach, you will have the opportunity to work collaboratively to deepen the knowledge, skill, and ability of teachers to refine their instructional practices.
The successful candidate will report directly to the Assistant Superintendent and work under the general guidance of the District Language Arts Coordinator and Administrators to facilitate student success and growth in academic and interpersonal skills. This role encompasses coaching teachers.
Qualifications- Evidence of ability to work cooperatively with administrators, teachers and paraprofessionals
- Demonstrated knowledge of and excellence in teaching literacy
- Enthusiasm for teaching and learning
- Promotes a positive learning environment responsive to and respectful of the needs of students
- Successful elementary teaching and/or literacy coaching experience preferred
- Ability to work with a diverse student population
- Assist in school-wide efforts to improve instruction to assist students in acquiring literacy skills
- Collaborate with teachers to promote the learning and implementation of best practices in literacy instruction by embracing a growth mindset
- Create and examine data to measure the success of literacy programs and instruction
- Communicate effectively orally and in writing with a variety of stakeholders, including students, their parents and staff
- Implement current theory, research and best practices in language arts and literacy development by attending seminars, workshops, or professional meetings
Performs other related tasks as assigned by the Principal and other central office administrators as designated by the Superintendent.
Required- CT elementary teaching certification, (097,102 preferred but not required)
- Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer or standing to teach
- Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times
- Must be able to traverse the classroom and adjust one's tone and height, by bending or leaning, in order to teach each child
