SEND School Classroom Support Graduate Role Leeds | Wakefield | Pontefract

Starting September 2026

Full Time | Long Term | Temporary

Whether you've had experience in SEND placements or just someone with the right calm, caring energy, Leader Education is partnering with Specialist SEND Schools across West Yorkshire and is looking for someone like you.

We’re working with brilliant specialist schools supporting children and young people with autism, complex needs, and communication differences. You could be working in a warm, supportive team of people who genuinely care about helping pupils thrive.

The Role

You will work closely with pupils who have a wide range of additional needs, including communication and interaction difficulties, sensory needs, behavioural and social differences.

Key responsibilities:
  • Providing 1:1 and small group support
  • Support pupils' social, emotional and academic development
  • Adapting your approach to meet the individual's needs of each pupil
  • Contributing to an nurturing and structured learning environment
  • Help in managing challenging behaviours positively and professionally
  • Work closely with class teachers and SENCOs to provide appropriate support

Experience in a school environment is desirable but not essential
, what matters most for this role is a genuine passion for supporting children, particularly those with special educational needs, a willingness to learn, and a commitment to a long-term placement.

Ideal candidates may have degrees / backgrounds such as:
  • Sociology
  • Health & Social Care
  • Psychology
  • Early Years Development
  • Sport
  • Drama/Theatre
  • Creative Arts
  • Other relevant fields
