SEN Teaching Assistant - Post 16 / KS5 Provision

Are you passionate about supporting young people with Special Educational Needs as they prepare for adulthood?

Next Gen Teachers are currently recruiting for a dedicated and compassionate SEN Teaching Assistant to join a specialist Post-16 / Key Stage 5 provision in Leeds from September 2026
.

This rewarding role involves supporting students aged 16-19 with a range of additional needs, helping them develop academically, socially and emotionally while building the independence and life skills needed for life beyond education.

The Role
  • Provide one-to-one and small group support for students with a range of Special Educational Needs, including Autism (ASC), ADHD, SEMH, learning disabilities and communication needs
  • Support students to access learning across vocational and academic subjects
  • Encourage independence, confidence and resilience both inside and outside the classroom
  • Assist students with life skills, employability skills and preparation for adulthood
  • Support communication, emotional regulation and positive behaviour strategies
  • Work closely with teachers, therapists and other professionals to deliver personalised support in line with EHCP targets
  • Build positive relationships that enable students to thrive and achieve their full potential
  • Promote an inclusive, safe and engaging learning environment
The Ideal Candidate
  • Has experience supporting children or young people with Special Educational Needs, either in education, care or community settings
  • Is patient, empathetic and committed to helping young people succeed
  • Has excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Can build positive, trusting relationships with learners
  • Is proactive, flexible and able to adapt to individual learning needs
  • Has a genuine passion for supporting young people as they transition into adulthood
