Senior/Principal Wastewater Modeller (Urban Drainage) – Leeds
We’re Sweco, Europe’s leading design, engineering, environment and regulatory consultancy. We are recruiting a Senior/Principal Wastewater Modeller for our Water department in Leeds. The role can be worked flexibly, with a minimum of three days per week in the office and the option of adjusted start and finish times. We will be relocating to Leeds City Centre mid‑next year from our current base in Chapel Allerton.
Role OverviewAs a member of the Urban Drainage Modelling Team, you will lead the delivery of a programme of modelling work, managing cost and programme, and supervising a team of junior modellers. You will deliver technical solutions that meet client needs for diverse, transformative projects, such as the Island of Jersey Surface Water Management Plan and the Anglian Water AMP8 WINEP Modelling Programme.
Coreduties and responsibilities
- Work within agreed deliverables, key milestones, project methodology, quality assurance and control strategy.
- Lead project delivery tasks, including engagement with client technical teams.
- Provide technical guidance, support and training to less experienced colleagues.
- Develop modelling processes and create innovative modelling tools.
- Work on a range of different types of modelling projects for clients in both the public and private sector.
- Experience in model build and verification of integrated catchment models and/or solution development using Infoworks ICM.
- Experience of water quality modelling and/or undertaking UPM studies (advantageous).
- Experience of GIS (e.g. ArcGIS or Mapinfo) and Infoworks ICM hydraulic modelling software (essential).
- A track record in mentoring team members less experienced in this field.
- Experience of managing projects and acting as technical discipline lead on urban drainage modelling/sewage projects (advantageous).
- Experience in managing modelling teams from a commercial/financial perspective (beneficial).
- An understanding of the market and an interest in business development to help expand and diversify our client base (welcomed).
- For the Principal role: must be chartered with an appropriate institute (e.g. ICE or CIWEM) or close to achieving chartered status.
