Foundry Tooling Specialist - Leeds, AL
Our growing Connectors location in Leeds, AL is looking for a Foundry Tooling Specialist to support the manufacturing operation's tool room and pattern shop technical applications. In this role, you will be a member of the tooling design and CNC manufacturing team. Responsible for assisting pattern shop manager in the design of sand cast and permanent mold foundry tooling. Assist in programming CNC mills used to manufacture tooling.
Create and modify 3D models using AutoCAD Inventor and similar software. The position may also be called upon to assist with creating work instructions, shop layout improvements, material storage and handling improvements etc.
A Day In The Life
- Use AutoCAD Inventor to create or modify 3D models
- Design foundry patterns, core tooling and permanent molds from 3D part models
- Learn design characteristics that reduce molding defects
- Program and setup CNC mill to machine patterns and other types of tooling
- The right candidate may also be trained to operate 3d scanning and printing equipment
- Setup and operation of RAM and Wire EDM machines
- Interpreted drawing specifications
- Create and or modify 3D models
- Be part of team using mold flow software to improve tooling design
- Be part of a quality improvement team reviewing scrap output and evaluating tooling design as a course for scrap reduction
- Fabricate patterns on CNC milling machines
- Select materials to be used for various die and fixture applications
- Perform all tasks in a safe and timely manner while adhering to all company policies
What will help you thrive in this role?
- Associate's Degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
- 5+ years of toolroom, shop or inventory control or other relevant experience
- Inventor or Solid Works 3-D modeling experience
- Experience with Programming, setting up, and running CNC Machines
- AutoCAD Inventor CNC programming manual and Cad Cam software
- RAM & Wire EDM
- Mold Flow
