- Lead and deliver protected species surveys; coordinate survey work from proposal to completion.
- Prepare ecological reports, including Preliminary Ecological Appraisals and survey reports.
- Provide advice on mitigation measures using best practices.
- Serve as a technical expert providing ecological assessment and advice throughout the project lifecycle.
- Prepare Ecological Impact Assessments, Protected Species and Habitat Mitigation Strategies, Ecological Management Plans, Protected Species License applications, Biodiversity Net Gain Assessments, Habitats Regulations Assessments, and Method Statements.
- Extensive ecological understanding and more than 5 years of demonstrable experience on a range of development projects.
- Relevant degree or equivalent non‑degree qualification in environmental/ecological or a related subject.
- Experience delivering Preliminary Ecological Appraisals, Ecological Impact Assessments, Protected Species and Habitat Mitigation Strategies, Ecological Management Plans, Protected Species License applications, and Biodiversity Net Gain Assessments.
- Natural England protected species survey licences, especially for bats; named ecologist on mitigation licences is advantageous.
- Full CIEEM membership.
- Ecological Clerk of Works experience or liaison with contractors.
- Willingness to travel occasionally; valid UK driving licence.
- Excellent written and verbal communication, organisational, analytical and time‑management skills.
- Good interpersonal skills.
