Job DescriptionOne of the roles of the Orthopaedics EMEA (Europe, Middle East and Africa) Medical Affairs team is to provide hospitals, buying groups or individual healthcare professionals with robust medical-scientific evidence related to the safety, performance and correct usage of our DePuy Synthes Orthopaedics solutions. This student placement will have an active and independent contribution to this critical role.
Also, this placement allows to be involved in national, international and global scientific/medical projects and gain exposure to a wide range of different departments. This placement will offer a great opportunity to gain experience in the orthopaedic healthcare sector. The placement is computer-based and does not involve any laboratory work.
What You'll Be Doing- Help maintain and update clinical evidence resources, ensuring key information stays current and accessible.
- Review scientific literature and summarize relevant data to support product evidence and research activities.
- Assist in creating scientific communications, presentations, and training materials for internal teams.
- Collaborate with colleagues across the UK, EMEA, and the US on projects and process improvements.
- Support research funding activities and help communicate decisions to stakeholders.
- Participate in STEM outreach events, including university, school, and careers fair activities.
- Follow company policies and guidelines relating to safety, quality, ethics, and compliance.
- 1-2 years of Bio Science related degree level study completed.
- A minimum of 2:1 achieved in first year of study.
- Experience in evidence evaluation and communication.
- Ability to review scientific information, identify key insights, and communicate findings clearly.
- IT-skills (MS office)
- A curious and analytical approach with an interest in science and research.
- Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
- Clear written and verbal communication skills.
- An ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- A proactive learner with strong interpersonal skills and the ability to prioritize.
- Confidence working across different teams and locations.
- Build practical experience in scientific research, evidence evaluation, and healthcare innovation.
- Develop skills in data analysis, scientific communication, and project management.
- Get involved in STEM outreach and research-related initiatives.
- Learn from experienced professionals in a global healthcare company.
Please note the assessment process will include an Assessment Centre, currently planned for January 2027.

Johnson & Johnson announced plans to separate our Orthopaedics business to establish a standalone orthopaedics company, operating as DePuy Synthes. The process of the planned separation is anticipated to be completed within 18 to 24 months, subject to legal requirements, including consultation with works councils and other employee representative bodies, as may be required, regulatory approvals and other customary conditions and approvals.
