Location:
This role is based primarily in the West Yorkshire and North Yorkshire region with travel required to all site locations.
Hours:
40 hours per week, Monday to Friday 7.30am - 4:00pm
Salary: £20.59-£22.34 dependant on experience
Bonus opportunity:
Up to £2,400 per annum, measurement based on company and personal performance
The Commercial Gas Engineer will be responsible for carrying out both planned and reactive gas, plumbing, and mechanical tasks across the Sewell Facilities Management property portfolio. This includes general maintenance and repairs of boilers, heating systems, water heaters, DHW systems, controls, and associated equipment. The role requires mobile working from different sites across the North of England and Lincolnshire and may require participation in the out‑of‑hours on‑call rota.
Company vehicle, tablet and phone will be provided.
- Carry out statutory and planned maintenance for commercial heating and plumbing systems.
- Respond to reactive tasks allocated by the Customer Care Team, ensuring all properties are maintained to a high standard.
- Identify and report/repair defects and maintenance requirements.
- Liaise with external contractors as necessary to meet business needs.
- Assist with compiling information for maintenance and repair quotations, ensuring accurate and competitive pricing.
- Communicate information to the client, facilities officers and management as appropriate.
- Maintain a safe, legally compliant work environment by adhering to all relevant health and safety regulations.
- Participate in the on‑call rota to address emergency callouts, providing reliable and timely responses.

Essential- Full UK driving licence.
- Valid domestic and commercial gas qualifications.
- Positive and professional attitude.
- Computer literacy (Microsoft Office).
- Proactive approach towards both planned and reactive maintenance.
- Excellent communication skills, including liaising with contractors.
- Excellent organisational skills with the ability to prioritise numerous tasks.
- Positive approach to learning and development.
- Flexible outlook towards working hours (out‑of‑hours on‑call rota required).
- Strong knowledge of current health and safety practices.
- F‑Gas certification and experience.
- Fault‑finding and maintenance experience in heating systems including BMS.
- Experience with air handling and fan coil units.
- First‑aid trained.
- Valid qualifications in air conditioning, refrigeration, and catering equipment.
- 18th edition electrical certification and experience.
- 22 days holiday (plus Bank Holidays), rising with length of service to 25 days.
