Field Crew Operative – Leeds

We are seeking to recruit Field Crew Operatives, based from our office in Leeds (working throughout the UK). As a Field Crew Operative, you will work with teams on various wastewater and water projects around the UK & Ireland. You will be part of a small team installing and maintaining flow monitors, water quality instrumentation and auto‑samplers into sewer pipes and rivers around the UK.

The work you do will contribute to improving our environment; you will be helping water companies to manage their sewer networks, and this will help to prevent flooding, reduce pollution and improve the health of rivers and bathing waters.

Typical Day

Your typical day will involve visiting various sites where you will support your Field Crew Leader in setting up safely and then carry out the installation, calibration or removal of our equipment – which is usually located inside a confined space or a river environment. This will include lifting and carrying equipment from the vehicle to the specified site.

Travel across the UK is very common. Candidates must be open to working away from home during the week and accommodate night or evening shifts as needed.

Training

We provide comprehensive training to ensure you succeed in this role – no prior experience necessary. Our training programme covers equipment operation, safety protocols, confined space procedures, and technical skills development.

Responsibilities
  • Install and retrieve monitoring equipment at client sites.
  • Conduct calibrations, collect water samples, and ensure accurate field measurements.
  • Perform in‑situ equipment calibration and maintain project documentation.
  • Follow all company procedures and safety protocols.
  • Survey client infrastructure and maintain company equipment.
  • Participate in training programmes and special projects.
Qualifications
  • Flexibility towards hours and working away from home (accommodation and meals are paid by the company); willing to work nights and occasional weekends.
  • Ability to work well within a team and with a variety of different people, as our teams swap and change.
  • Strong work ethic, positive and can‑do attitude, and ability to use your own initiative when faced with problems.
  • Comfortable working around raw sewage and in confined spaces.
  • Clean and valid driving licence.
  • Right to work in the UK.
Other Information

In addition to the above responsibilities, candidates will be expected to maintain company equipment, adhere to safety compliance, and support the team as needed.
