About the role:
We're looking for a skilled and practical Multi-Skilled Operative to join our team, supporting a busy responsive repairs and maintenance contract in Leeds. This is a hands-on role focused on delivering day-to-day repairs within social housing, ensuring properties are safe, functional, and maintained to a high standard for residents.
Working across occupied homes, you'll be responsible for carrying out a wide range of reactive maintenance tasks across multiple trades. From minor repairs to more involved maintenance issues, you'll take a first-time fix approach wherever possible, helping to minimise repeat visits and deliver a reliable service.
This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced repairs environment, can fault-find effectively, and takes pride in delivering quality workmanship. You'll also play a key part in providing a positive experience for residents, working respectfully within their homes and keeping them informed throughout the job.

Duties
- Carry out day-to-day responsive repairs and maintenance within occupied social housing properties
- Diagnose faults and complete repairs across a range of trades, ensuring a first-time fix wherever possible
- Complete carpentry repairs including skirting, architraves, doors, frames, locks, and ironmongery
- Undertake minor plumbing repairs such as leaks, tap replacements, and unblocking sinks
- Carry out patch plastering and make good following repair works
- Complete basic tiling repairs including regrouting and resealing
- Carry out painting and decorating to reinstate areas after maintenance works
- Ensure all repairs are completed safely, efficiently, and in line with company standards and SLAs
- Work in occupied properties, maintaining a high level of customer care and respect for residents' homes
- Participate in out-of-hours emergency repairs rota where required
- Identify and report follow-on works or additional maintenance issues
- Deliver excellent customer service and communicate clearly with residents about works being carried out
- Accurately record job details, materials used, and outcomes using handheld devices
- Maintain tools, equipment, and company vehicle to a good standard
- Manage workload effectively to meet daily targets and appointments
Key Criteria:
- Proven experience in domestic repairs and maintenance across multiple trades (e.g. carpentry, plumbing, plastering, tiling, decorating)
- Full UK driving licence
- Ability to work independently and manage workload effectively
- Strong fault-finding and problem-solving skills
- Excellent customer service skills, with experience working in occupied homes
- Good understanding of health and safety regulations and safe working practices
- Ability to use handheld devices or job management systems to record work
- Willingness to participate in out-of-hours emergency rota
