Hello, I’m Nicola, the Nursery Manager at Leek.

With over 34 years of experience in early years—progressing from EY practitioner and room leader to nursery manager—I’m proud to lead a professional and dedicated team.

Situated in a small market town, our nursery is a close‑knit community where every child and family feels a strong sense of belonging. Our exciting outdoor space encourages exploration and active play, offering endless opportunities for discovery and learning.

We also provide small group learning experiences tailored to each child’s individual needs, supporting them to reach their full potential at their own pace.

Who & What is Storal?

About

you

You are a Level 2 or above qualified Early Years Educator / Practitioner / Nursery Nurse or similar and you're looking for an Early Years Educator/Nursery Nurse/Early Years Practitioner role that allows you flexibility of working shifts around your other commitments.

You enjoy supporting and encouraging the natural curiosity and excitement of young children and were born to teach and shape the future of our younger generations.

You have a natural, nurturing, openness, a warm and positive outlook, and you care about learning and education standards in the UK.

(We can sometimes consider unqualified Educators, so if you can demonstrate the necessary values and enthusiasm for working within this environment, submit an application. Nothing ventured nothing gained.)

What you’ll be doing

You’ll be helping to provide cover for the children as and when needed. This could be for periods of holiday, sickness, or even vacancy gaps. Sometimes you'll support for a full day, or it may just be a morning or afternoon session.

You’ll likely start most of your days with a fully formulated plan. That will soon get completely derailed though… Pivoting when the circumstances call for it is a regular occurrence in child care!

Creativity is key. Teaching young children allows for hands‑on arts and crafts, storytelling, exercise, and educational games. It’s important to keep things fresh and try new activities to keep attention spans engaged. Of course we work within the EYFS standards, but that doesn't stop you from engaging your creative flair and enthusiasm for learning.

What you’ll need

A full and relevant Level 2 or above qualification within early years.

Experience as an Early Years Educator (Nursery Nurse/Practitioner) or having worked with children under the age of 5 is advantageous.

Knowledge and understanding of the EYFS is desirable.

Reflecting the Storal values around responsibility, openness and working together.
