Residential Night attendant Horton Lodge Special School

Horton Lodge School is looking for a Residential Night Attendant to join our exceptional Residential team from April 13 2026.

Horton Lodge is a historic building set in extensive grounds within an area of natural beauty on the edge of Rudyard Lake. The successful candidate will:
  • Provide a 12-hour waking watch for residential provision
  • Hold L3 Caring for Children and Young People or equivalent
  • Assist in the dressing and undressing of children
  • Assist in the personal care of children.
  • Wash and iron the children’s clothes.
  • Assist at breakfast time and with morning routines.
  • Contribute to pupil care plans, filing and preparing resources
  • Be involved in the provision of aspects of support necessary to the children’s welfare
  • Maintain records as required
  • Maintain effective contact with appropriate staff and parents
  • Assist in the provision of a safe environment for children
  • Demonstrate good communication skills
  • Have a proactive, can-do attitude
  • Be able to confidently work alone during the night
  • Be able to work within a multidisciplinary team and under their own initiative

The purpose of this role is to actively contribute to the care and well‑being of children residing in the school’s residential setting. As a Night Attendant, you will ensure a safe, secure, and nurturing environment during the night hours, supporting the physical, emotional, and developmental needs of children with Special Educational Needs (SEN).

The role involves vigilant supervision, responding effectively to any nighttime needs or incidents, and maintaining a calming presence to promote restful sleep and emotional stability. By fostering a supportive and inclusive atmosphere, the Night Attendant plays a vital part in the holistic care provided by the school, ensuring the children feel safe, valued, and cared for throughout the night.

Previous experience and/or relevant skills are preferred.

The post is temporary until December 2026, 36 hours per week, term time only.

The daily working hours will be 3 nights and 3 mornings. Monday – Thursday 8:00pm – 8:20am
