Job Description Summary

The Pricing Manager is responsible for pricing, contracts, and market analysis for the API product lines within the Specialty Generics Business Unit. This role will work closely with the Sr. Director of Product Management and Analytics to drive profitable growth by improving price and margin realization across the portfolio using data driven commercial decision making. This role will work with Product Management to translate the pricing strategy into segment specific pricing tactics and execution.

The role will be responsible for managing the contracting process. The role will collaborate with stakeholders in Sales, Product Management, Customer Service, Contract Administration, Legal, Compliance and Finance to execute the pricing and contracting process to manage and grow the API businesses.

Job Description ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • Develop the pricing strategy and tactics in conjunction with Product Management aligned with the market and customer strategies.
  • Responsible for the development, review, and execution of pricing guidelines and business rules.
  • Inform and refine segmentation model, incorporating willingness to pay and behavioral characteristics into pricing and sales tactics.
  • Recommend pricing strategies and tactics to support sales and margin targets.
  • Track market pricing to aid in determining bid prices and walk-away points.
  • Set and approve prices based on pricing authority established with Product Management.
  • Prepare summaries of key deals for senior management review.
  • Perform comparative pocket price analysis to identify accounts where price leakage is occurring.
  • Develop robust pricing analytics to support deal analysis and pricing insights.
  • Manage contract development and execution
  • Layout the contract strategy with Product Management.
  • Implement metrics to track progress relative to the strategy.
  • Manage contract process from identification of need through term sheets and supply agreement execution.
  • Manage review and approval of term sheets, contract language and pricing letters.
  • Identify and implement contract best practices with Legal & Product Management.
  • Coordinate tactical execution of pricing with supporting functions of IT, Customer Service, Product Management and Sales
  • Ensure pricing is applied in an accurate and consistent manner across the global customers set.
  • Perform updates for formula-based pricing based on cost pass through or external market indices and communicate to sales team and/or customer.
  • Support the API Product and Commercial Teams in:
  • annual budgeting, strategic planning and other business analysis efforts
  • ad-hoc analysis and tracking efforts to optimize sales performance
  • strategic product management and sales decisions through analyses of product revenue, average selling prices, units, prescriptions, market size, and market share
  • Track and analyze competitive and market intelligence relating to price and volume
  • Collection, review, and reporting of market data (IMS, INCB, Import/Exports, etc.)
  • Review and curate market intelligence from sales team to inform pricing decisions.
  • Additional duties as assigned.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Education:
  • BA/BS required
  • MBA is a plus
Experience:
  • Minimum of 4 years of relevant pricing, commercial or industry experience.
  • Understanding of US pharmaceutical value chain and industry dynamics is a plus.
  • Demonstrated experience in developing, implementing, and executing pricing and contracting strategies.
  • Experience in the API, fine chemicals, or generics industry (or similar) in a commercial role or one closely aligned with commercial functions is preferred.
