Purpose Statement
The job of Resource Aide was established for the purpose/s of providing support to the instructional process with specific responsibilities for ensuring the safety and welfare of students during non-classroom activities; minimizing the frequency and/or severity of harmful incidents; and communicating observations and/or incidents that have a potential impact on the general well-being of students, school personnel, and/or visitors.
Duration2026-27 School Year: 171 days/year, 1.5 hours/day.
ReportingThis job reports to Principal.
Essential Functions- Assists in the maintenance of playground areas (e.g., raking wood chips, checking playground equipment and picking up trash, etc.) to provide a safe environment.
- Communicates safety and security policies and enforcement procedures to students, staff and visitors for the purpose of ensuring their understanding of such information and the potential consequences of violation.
- Intervenes in potential conflicts and emergency situations to minimize disruptions of campus activities and/or injury to involved parties.
- Maintains a variety of files and records (e.g., schedules, guidelines, etc.) for future reference and/or audit compliance with established policies.
- Monitors student behavior during and between assigned periods (e.g., restrooms, playgrounds, hallways, library, cafeteria, etc.) to ensure compliance with guidelines, maintain a safe and positive learning environment, and secure facility.
- Participates in unit meetings, in-service training, workshops, etc. to convey and/or gather information required to perform job functions.
- Prepares written materials (e.g., incident reports, activity logs, copier count report, etc.) to document activities, provide written reference, and/or convey information.
- Processes requests for copies and copies materials for teachers and staff throughout the school site to assist in the overall educational program.
- Provides coverage for other classified staff members as needed to maintain service quality.
- Refers incidents including personal injuries, altercations, suspicious activities, rule violations, etc. to appropriate site personnel for follow-up in accordance with administrative, site security and student safety guidelines.
- Responds to a variety of situations (e.g., accidents, injuries, vandalism, suspicious activities, alarms, etc.) to resolve immediate safety and/or security concerns.
- Responds to inquiries regarding campus security issues to provide information, direction and/or referral for addressing inquiries.
- Performs other related duties as assigned to ensure the efficient and effective functioning of the work unit.
Skills:

ExperienceJob-related experience is desired.
EducationHigh School diploma or equivalent.
