Position Summary
WashU's Division of Student Success seeks a health education professional for the position of Prevention Specialist for the Relationship & Sexual Violence Prevention Center (RSVP). The Division of Student Success advances the educational mission of the university through resources and experiences outside the classroom that prepare our students for lifelong success. The Relationship and Sexual Violence Prevention Specialist will play a key role in increasing and strengthening university‑wide education and outreach to undergraduate students, with a primary focus on sexual harassment, sexual assault, stalking and dating and domestic violence, and the intersections of violence.
The role will develop and implement evidence‑based, audience‑specific educational programs, oversee directives related to the Jeanne Cleary and Violence Against Women Act (VAWA) education, promote inclusive programming that addresses anti‑racism and anti‑oppression, and advise graduate practicum students.
- Develop and implement evidence‑based, audience‑specific educational programs that are inclusive and address intersections of violence.
- Develop and manage a comprehensive program calendar, including orientation programs for graduate students.
- Maintain evaluation and assessment of the impact of current programs and modify accordingly.
- Play a lead role in researching the most efficacious or promising practices in prevention education.
- Educate, advise, support and maintain peer education groups, including LIVE.
- Create educational and promotional materials, including web resources.
- Recruit, train and supervise at least 2–4 graduate practicum students.
- Build working relationships with campus partners for co‑programming at least once per year.
- Develop and manage a budget for prevention efforts.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Bachelor's degree or a combination of education and/or experience may substitute for the minimum education requirement.
- Three years of health education experience.
- No specific certification or professional license required.
- Driver's license not required.
- Master's degree in psychology, social work, public health, women and gender studies, or a related field.
- Three or more years of violence prevention education experience.
- Experience with adolescents or college‑aged students.
- Interest and knowledge of issues related to sexual and relationship violence.
