Job Details:Mercer University is searching for an Admissions Counselor for the School of Business on the Atlanta, Georgia campus.
Responsibilities:The Admissions Counselor is responsible for recruiting, admitting, and enrolling qualified prospective students into School of Business graduate programs at Mercer University. Responsibilities for recruitment events include, but are not limited to: travel for recruitment, inquiry development, student meetings, professional presentations, and correspondence. This role regularly interacts with university personnel throughout the enrollment process. The Admissions Counselor recommends Policies and Procedures to the Director to improve the admissions office’s efficiency and effectiveness.
In addition, the role assists with strategic planning, proactively identifies enrollment opportunities, and demonstrates leadership by assuming new responsibilities. The Admissions Counselor collaborates with enrollment associates to execute Enrollment Management’s strategic plans and meet daily enrollment goals.
Duties include:
- Manage the recruitment and enrollment of qualified students
- Meet with area employers and Mercer alumni in support of new student recruitment
- Show initiative and leadership in assuming new responsibilities, identifying enrollment opportunities, and setting a standard of professionalism for the admissions staff
- Work collaboratively and professionally with faculty and staff from other departments on campus
A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college/university is required. Candidates must have a valid driver’s license and be insurable by the university’s carrier.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:- Knows how to use Microsoft Office products to maintain accurate prospect management.
- Polished presentation/public speaking skills, fine-tuned organization, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills.
- Ability to conduct interviews and presentations to prospective students and their families.
- Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written abilities that positively reflect upon Mercer University with diverse populations, which are vital to the success of this position.
- Demonstrated ability to handle multiple tasks at the same time in order to meet and exceed set goals, and willingness to go beyond what is required to meet goals.
- Availability to travel to event locations (sometimes driving long distances requiring overnight stays) during early morning, evening, and weekend hours as needed.
- Capability to load and transport admissions materials, displays, and other equipment weighing up to 50 pounds, with or without accommodations.
- Ability to understand the specific needs of working adult students.
- Demonstrates a dynamic and approachable personality with the ability to engage and connect with a diverse student body.
- Ability to understand marketing and advertising development and strategies.
- Demonstrates proficiency with appropriate technologies.
- Ability to be dedicated to the mission of Mercer University and to strengthening the University’s relationship with the internal and external University community.
