We are currently looking for an Engineering Manager at R&S Machining located in St. Louis, Missouri. As our Engineering Manager you will lead the Manufacturing Engineering function responsible for developing robust, efficient, and compliant manufacturing processes that consistently deliver high-quality, tight-tolerance components.
Working as part of a dynamic, cross-functional team, you'll partner closely with Operations, Quality, and Supply Chain to support new product introduction, improve process capability, and drive continuous improvement across the business. This position plays a critical role in achieving operational excellence, cost competitiveness, and customer satisfaction.
Focus Areas Engineering Leadership- Lead, develop, and mentor a team of Manufacturing Engineers, CNC Programmers, and Process Engineers
- Establish engineering standards, best practices, and documentation discipline
- Allocate resources to support quoting, NPI, and production needs
- Drive accountability through KPIs, project tracking, and performance management
- Oversee development and optimization of machining processes for complex components
- Ensure processes are capable of meeting tight tolerances and customer specifications
- Lead tooling strategy, fixturing design, and process standardization
- Approve routers, work instructions, and setup documentation
- Review and release product for production
- Lead engineering support for RFQs, including manufacturability assessments and cycle time estimates
- Ensure smooth transition from quote to production
- Develop process flows, risk assessments, and validation plans
- Collaborate with Quality on control plans, PFMEAs, and inspection strategies
- Drive cycle time reduction, cost improvement, and productivity gains
- Partner with Operations to improve throughput and reduce bottlenecks
- Implement Lean manufacturing principles and support Six Sigma initiatives
- Utilize data and metrics to identify improvement opportunities
- Ensure engineering processes comply with AS9100 requirements
- Support First Article Inspections (FAI) per AS9102
- Collaborate with Quality on root cause analysis and corrective actions
- Ensure proper documentation and revision control of engineering data
- Work closely with Operations to resolve production issues and improve efficiency
- Partner with Supply Chain on material selection and supplier capabilities
- Support Sales and Estimating with technical input and cost modeling
- Interface with customers on technical requirements and issue resolution
- Drive adoption of advanced manufacturing technologies and automation
- Oversee CAM programming standards and system utilization
- Support implementation and optimization of ERP/MES systems
- Evaluate capital equipment needs and support ROI analysis
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (i.e. Mechanical, Manufacturing, Chemical).
- 8+ years of experience in precision machining including experience with CAD/CAM system and manufacturing software.
- 3+ years in a leadership or supervisory role.
- Aerospace and defense industry experience working within AS9100 certified environments
- Familiarity with AS9102 and customer-specific requirements
- Lean / Six Sigma certification (Green Belt or higher)
- Knowledge of ITAR and regulatory compliance requirements
Salary:
Salary is based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.
- Pay Range: $110,000 to $150,000 plus bonus
