The Product Development Engineer II is a mid-level engineer who independently researches, designs, tests, and develops pump products and systems. This role applies engineering expertise to solve moderately complex problems, evaluates design factors for performance and cost, and utilizes simulations and analysis tools to optimize solutions. The Engineer II collaborates closely with cross-functional teams, prepares technical documentation and reports, and ensures products meet quality and reliability standards.
This position also supports project management activities and may provide technical guidance to less experienced engineers. Independently researches, designs, tests, and develops products and systems, applying engineering principles to solve moderately complex problems. Contributes technical expertise to projects and collaborates with cross-functional teams to ensure product performance and quality.
Lead the development of conceptual and detailed product specifications for pump products based on performance data and customer requirements.
Evaluate design factors such as function, materials, performance, cost, efficiency, and compliance with contractual obligations.
Apply scientific analysis and mathematical modeling to predict and assess design outcomes and alternatives.
Interpret and validate test results, conduct failure analysis, and recommend qualification procedures to ensure product reliability and safety.
Utilize simulations and predictive models to verify and optimize design concepts.
Provide technical guidance and documentation for engineering teams, ensuring adherence to standards and best practices.
Prepare and review technical reports, procedures, and customer proposals.
Manage project milestones, cost, and schedule, implementing corrective actions as needed.
Identify and resolve design errors and deficiencies, recommending revisions and improvements.
Mentor junior engineers and share specialized knowledge with colleagues.
RequirementsBachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related engineering discipline from an accredited institution.
4+ years of relevant engineering experience minimum, preferably in pump design, fluid handling, or related mechanical systems.
Preferences- Proficiency in engineering design tools (such as Solid Works, AutoCAD, or similar) and experience with simulation or analysis software.
- Demonstrated ability to independently execute engineering tasks and contribute to cross-functional projects.
- Experience with product testing, troubleshooting, and documentation.
- Experience with FEA/FEM software solutions for electromagnetic, computational fluid dynamics, and static and dynamic mechanical simulation preferred.
- Certifications such as PMP or Six Sigma are a plus.
