Facilities Engineer

Reporting to the Corporate Facilities Manager, the Facilities Engineer is responsible for the planning, design, maintenance, and improvements of Polytainers Lee Summit Facility to ensure the reliability, stability, and consistency of the electrical, mechanical, pneumatic aspects.

As the Facilities Engineer you will be responsible for overseeing and executing capital projects to optimize the company's energy efficiency, reduce costs, and promote environmental sustainability.

This role requires a strong background in project management, and a thorough understanding of energy systems and technologies.

Position Responsibilities
  • Ensuring compliance with relevant regulations, building codes, and health and safety standards.
  • Gathering and analyzing data, blueprints, and reports.
  • Determining facility and equipment specifications.
  • Analyzing project costs and preparing budgets.
  • Designing and overseeing the implementation of facility expansion, layout, various systems, and quality controls.
  • Evaluating operational systems and facility infrastructure to ascertain and improve operational efficiencies.
  • Developing processing plans (SOPs) and optimizing resource allocation.
  • Planning and coordinating infrastructure and equipment maintenance schedules and activities.
  • Coordinating and overseeing contractors performing maintenance activities. Review maintenance practices and programs and make recommendations to enhance energy efficiency.
  • Preparing reports and compliance documentation.
  • Develop and execute energy management plans, in line with the company's sustainability objectives and corporate guidelines.
  • Identify, prioritize, and evaluate energy-saving opportunities, including energy-efficient technologies, equipment upgrades, process optimization, and renewable energy solutions.
  • Lead energy audits and assessments to identify potential areas for improvement and develop comprehensive energy conservation measures.
  • Monitor and analyze energy consumption patterns, identifying trends and implementing corrective actions to improve energy efficiency and reduce waste.
  • Keep abreast of and apply for energy conservation and GHG emission reduction incentives offered by government programs and utility companies.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to ensure projects align with business objectives, regulatory requirements, and industry best practices.
  • Stay updated on emerging energy technologies, regulations, and industry trends to identify innovative solutions and opportunities for improvement.
  • Foster a culture of energy awareness and sustainability within the organization through training programs, employee engagement initiatives, and effective communication.
Skills/Experience Required

Educational Requirements:

Bachelor's degree in mechanical, electrical, or industrial engineering. A master's degree is a plus.

Minimum Experience/Field:
At least 3 years of experience as facilities engineer or in a similar role.

Familiarity with energy management standards, such as ISO 50001, and energy-related regulations and incentives.

Certifications in energy management are desirable but not mandatory.

Experience with AutoCAD, and MS Office.

Knowledge of the building process and construction principles.

Knowledge of relevant regulations and building codes.

Proficiency in conducting energy audits, analyzing energy data, and using energy modeling software.
