About Our Client

Our client is a rapidly growing platform organization executing an ambitious inorganic growth strategy. They are seeking an experienced Director of Mergers & Acquisitions (M&A) to partner directly with executive leadership, lead end-to-end deal execution, and drive strategic platform expansion.

Role Overview

The Director of Mergers and Acquisitions will own the origination, evaluation, and execution of inorganic growth opportunities—from early-stage outreach and financial analysis through diligence, negotiation, and close. This role works cross-functionally to translate complex transaction findings into actionable recommendations and decision-ready materials for executive leadership and the Board.

Key Responsibilities
  • End-to-End Deal Execution: Manage the full transaction lifecycle, including outreach strategy, diligence, negotiation support, deal structuring, and integration handoff.
  • Financial Modeling & Strategy: Build detailed financial models, valuation scenarios, synergy estimates, operating plans, and board-level decision materials to support investment theses.
  • Diligence Leadership: Own quantitative and qualitative diligence across financial, commercial, operational, and technical work streams; synthesize findings into concise executive memos.
  • Cross-Functional & Advisor Coordination: Partner with internal teams (Finance, HR/People, Tech, Sales) and external advisors (Legal, Tax, Accounting, Insurance) to manage work streams and integration planning.
  • Pipeline & Target Origination: Conduct market and competitive research to identify attractive segments and potential targets. Maintain a disciplined pipeline process (prioritization, stage gates, and status reporting).
  • Relationship & Stakeholder Management: Serve as a primary point of contact for target leadership teams, intermediaries, and external partners, establishing long‑term rapport and positioning the company as a preferred buyer.
  • Executive & Governance Reporting: Prepare regular updates for senior leadership regarding pipeline activity, transaction status, risks, and deal economics.
Candidate Qualifications
  • Experience: 3 years of experience in Finance / General Business, with a proven track record of executing M&A transactions or strategic investments across multiple stages of the deal lifecycle.
  • Background: Prior experience in Corporate Development, Investment Banking, Private Equity / Private Capital, or Transaction Advisory Services.
  • Market Research: 1 years of demonstrated experience in market research, target identification, or competitive analysis.
  • Modeling & Analytics: Advanced financial analysis and financial modeling skills in spreadsheets, alongside strong presentation software capabilities.
  • Industry Experience (Preferred): Background in multi-site, multi-product, or services environments, or familiarity with buy-and-build / platform expansion strategies.
Core Competencies
  • Executive Communication: Exceptional verbal and written communication skills with the ability to build trust and influence senior stakeholders.
  • Project Ownership: Highly organized, structured thinker who manages multiple concurrent initiatives, sets milestones, and meets deadlines under pressure.
  • Autonomy & Agility: Comfortable operating with limited oversight in ambiguous environments while maintaining a proactive, solution-oriented mindset.
  • Integrity: Sound business judgment and discretion when handling highly sensitive financial and strategic information.
