Permit Specialist; Outdoor Advertising - KC or St. Joseph

Job Location: This position will be filled at either the Kansas City District Office (Lee's Summit, MO) or Northwest District Office (St. Joseph, MO) depending on the location of the successful candidate. Interviews will be held at the Kansas City District Office.

The outdoor advertising permit specialist ensures compliance with the Highway Beautification Actby regulating outdoor advertising andjunkyards in accordance with federalandstateregulations.

Responsibilitiesareperformedunderdirectsupervision.

• Reviewsapplicationsandissuesordeniespermitstoerectoutdooradvertisingortrimvegetationin accordance with state and federal regulations.
• Conductssurveillanceofandinspectsnewandexistingbillboards,signs,andvegetationcuttings.
• Meetswithoutdooradvertisingcompanies,municipalities,salvageyards,andthegeneralpublicconcerning programs.
• Inspectsandmonitorssalvageyardsforcompliancewithlaw;issueslicensesandattendsjunkyardcourthearings.
• Initiates,gathersdataforandattendsformalandinformalhearingsonappealsofspecialist'sdecision.

• Bachelor's d egree in business administration, economics, finance, public administration, real e state,or related field.

• Job requires statewide, overnight travel.
• Job requires exposure to physical hazards, health and safety risks, and/or adverse or otherwise undesirable characteristics in the environment.
• Job may require operation of vehicles to plow snow and spread ice control materials.
• A postsecondary degree is the best measure to ensure candidates possess required knowledge of effective communication techniques, work organization and scheduling skills, relevant federal and state law, and compliance requirements impacting property owner rights.
