Pay Range: $35.81 - $53.72/hour & Daily Pay available!

Shift Differentials: Available for night, weekend, & additional shifts.

Sign On Bonus: Up to $20,000 with 1 year experience; less than 1 year experience eligible up to $15,000. Payable within 30 days of start date.

Tuition Reimbursement: 100% tuition benefit for additional certifications for full‑time employees.

Job Summary

Performs diagnostic ultrasound imaging studies in the vascular lab.

Responsibilities & Requirements

Essential Functions (60-75%):

  • Performs ultrasound procedures and examinations according to established department guidelines.
  • Vascular department specific tasks:
    • Imaging and non‑imaging arterial studies of the upper and lower extremities and digits, Transcranial Doppler studies, venous imaging studies of the neck, upper and lower extremities, carotid imaging studies and arterial bypass/pseudoaneurysm studies according to established vascular lab policy and procedures.
    • Follows Society of Vascular Ultrasound, ARDMS and Intersocietal Commission for the Voluntary Accreditation of Vascular Laboratories standards and guidelines.
  • Clearly communicates & explains the exam procedure to the patient and any family member present to insure understanding and obtain patient consent.
  • Assesses patient's medical, cardiac or vascular status by taking a history before the exam.
  • Assembles a chart with patient information and enters information into the current PACS System or Electronic Medical Record (EMR).
  • Records all imaging studies in the digital archive for the Medical Director or designee to review and interpret.

Billing & Documentation (5%):

  • Completes patient billing to ensure accurate and timely billing procedures.
  • Enters charges daily for procedures performed with no more than one error per week.
  • Prints reports from PAC, Epic and On Demand; checks each charge to ensure the correct account number and procedure charges.

Quality & Development (5%):

  • Supports all functions, goals and objectives of the department and development of new programs.
  • Participates in development of new diagnostic testing procedures, evaluation of new equipment, and educational programs.
  • Educates residents and other medical or technical staff on technical aspects, indications and limitations.
  • Completes required CEUs to maintain specialty certification.
  • Participates in research studies that require departmental services.

Safety & Infection Control (3-5%):

  • Practices universal precautions and disposes of hazardous wastes according to established guidelines.
  • Disinfects and cleans equipment according to manufacturers' guidelines and Infection Control and department policy, including high level disinfection.
  • Maintains a clean, safe, and therapeutic environment for patients/families/employees.
  • Reports risk management concerns and completes all assigned annual hospital and department specific mandatory requirements.

Patient Care & Interpersonal Skills (2-5%):

  • Provides service excellence, demonstrates care and courtesy to all patients, family members, and colleagues.
  • Communicates effectively and maintains confidentiality as outlined in hospital policy.
  • Demonstrates competence and collaboration; provides cost‑effective services, minimizing overtime and managing supplies efficiently.
  • Attends regular hospital and department meetings and participates in Performance Improvement initiatives.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Remains alert and safe; follows all safety, fire, blood‑borne pathogens, hazardous communication, TB, and department‑specific protocols.
  • Provides specialized care to patients at high risk for injury, including restraint care, pain management, and abuse assessment; follows hospital policies for restraints, pain management, and abuse/neglect reporting.
  • Assists day‑to‑day operations: engages with work order entry systems, retrieves archived studies, handles clerical duties, and participates in safety and infection control surveys.
Qualifications

Requirements: Completion of a sonography program and at least two ARDMS or CCI registries in Abdomen, OB/GYN, Breast, Echo, or Vascular.
