Job Description

We are in search of a Payroll & Benefits Specialist to join a rapidly growing client in Kansas City, Missouri. In this role, you will administer all benefit programs, complete payroll activities, and manage the HRIS system. You will stay updated with payroll/HRIS/time & attendance systems, benefit trends, pay policies, regulatory changes, and ensure program compliance. Responsibilities
  • Administer day-to-day operations of all benefit and retirement plans for both current and new employees.
  • Conduct year-end payroll administration, including tax document preparation and reconciliation.
  • Support the annual open enrollment process, including system testing, employee support, election monitoring, and enrollment audits.
  • Act as the primary resource for leave administration.
  • Collaborate with finance to prepare, reconcile, and submit for payment, all monthly benefit and retirement plan invoices.
  • Partner with third-party auditors and administrators to perform annual carrier audits, compliance testing, and required reporting and filings.
  • Ensure both exempt and non-exempt employees are paid timely in accordance with company, state and federal payroll standards.
  • Update and maintain the HR information system daily to reflect new hires, employee status changes including pay rate changes, promotions, department transfers, title changes, and personal information changes.
  • Maintain data integrity of HR Systems through various HR, benefits, payroll and compliance audits to track data entry errors, process adherence, and make recommendations for process improvements.
  • Serve as a resource for employees by answering questions related to payroll and benefits, and provide timely and consistent follow-up.
Qualifications
  • Must have a minimum of 5 years of experience in a similar role
  • Proficient in using Workday software for payroll and benefits administration
  • Demonstrable experience in managing multistate payroll
  • Familiarity with benefits administration processes including open enrollment
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills
  • Detail-oriented with a high level of accuracy in work
  • Ability to handle confidential information with discretion

    Capable of working independently as well as in a team
  • Bachelor's degree in human resources, finance, or a related field is preferred
  • Knowledge of federal, state, and local laws regarding payroll and benefits is a plus
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and meet tight deadlines
  • Strong problem-solving skills and analytical abilities.
