Location: Lee's Summit
What You Will Do
- Lead a team of safety professionals and waste technicians.
- Formulate and administer EH&S plans and procedures, including program management.
- Ensure compliance of facilities with EH&S regulations and RTX requirements.
- Coordinate with business partners regarding EH&S concerns, facilities, and employee practices.
- Oversee medical responsibilities at the site, if required.
- Organize and maintain EH&S policies, achieving compliance with regulations.
- Manage relationships across specialized departments to maintain compliance.
- Own the execution of long‑term strategy, typically over three years, for modest‑sized businesses.
- Manage a team of experienced professionals, focusing on tactical and operational plans for the short‑ to medium‑term.
- Influence policies and procedures in other areas outside the job role.
- Implement continuous‑improvement initiatives such as Core, Six Sigma, or Lean.
- Conduct in‑depth analysis of environmental portfolios to identify compliance opportunities.
- Collaborate with sites to define controls for the EH&S program and maintain policies.
- Assess EH&S impacts and develop or implement programs to reduce risk.
- Manage environmental permits and reporting criteria.
- Establish and track plans for compliance and risk reduction.
- Lead audits of the EH&S management system implementation across factories and service locations.
- Lead communication of global EH&S initiatives and performance to professionals and upper‑level management.
- Bachelor’s degree with 12 years of related EH&S experience, or an advanced degree with 10+ years of related EH&S experience.
- Ability to work with a wide range of people, from site leaders to shop‑floor staff.
- Strong understanding of factory equipment, manufacturing, field safety, and EH&S management systems.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
- Demonstrated knowledge of EH&S regulatory and management systems, including compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations regarding air, storm water, wastewater, and hazardous waste.
- Additional certifications such as CSP, CIH, P.E., or CHMM strongly preferred.
- Management experience in a union environment.
- Experience with Continuous Improvement programs such as Core, Six Sigma, or Lean.
- Additional certifications such as CSP, CIH, P.E., or CHMM.
