Reporting to Printing Maintenance Supervisor, the Printing Roller Head Maintenance Mechanic is responsible for the removal, installation and setup of colour head & plate cylinders, performing complete overhaul of colour heads and plate cylinders, assisting production personnel in obtaining maximum machine efficiency and productivity levels and when needed performs set‑ups, changeovers on all printing machines when covering for vacation and sickness.

Performs training modifications as required, communicates machine issues to Team Members and Management. Is responsible for completing required documentation, work orders, logbooks and company records and maintains machine tooling and spare parts cabinets in an organized and professional manner.

• Responsible for the removal and installation of colour head and plate cylinders
• Conducts overhaul of colour heads and plate cylinders
• Performs set‑ups and changeovers on all printing machines when covering on production floor as required.
• Assists production personnel in obtaining maximum machine efficiency and productivity levels when covering on production floor
• Disassembles, inspects and repairs all parts of colour head and plate cylinder.
• Restores and keeps colour heads and plate cylinder in good running condition.
• Performs modifications as required.
• Responsible for completing required documentation, work orders, logbooks and company records.
• Responsible for roller inventory checking (checks rollers before being sent out to be recovered and checks returned rollers to ensure they are the correct diameter when they are returned).
• Ensures roller assembly is ready to be installed on the production floor.
• Communicates machine issues to Team Members and Management.
• Maintains machine tooling and spare parts cabinets in an organized and professional manner.

Note:

Work is performed in a production environment with moderate levels of noise. Heavy lifting and prolonged standing is required. Walking, climbing, reaching, bending, kneeling, pushing and pulling, gripping and grasping, and some repetitive arm, wrist and shoulder movements are required in this position.

• Educational Requirements:
• Minimum Experience / Field: Experience in printing manufacturing, specifically in molded plastics and/or food packaging industry preferred.

  Good PC skills including working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
• Physical Requirements: Heavy lifting and prolonged standing is required. Walking, climbing, reaching, bending, kneeling, pushing and pulling and some repetitive arm, wrist and shoulder movements are required in this position.

  Proven track record working with people and problem resolution and strong interpersonal, collaboration skills.

  Strong mechanical ability and Ability to make repairs using machine shop equipment. Ability to replace bearings, bushings, shafts, gears and belts. Must be able to read and understand blueprints. Good basic understanding of the principles of pneumatics. Proficient in the use of mechanics’ hand tools and in using precision measuring tools and machine shop equipment.
