Acuren Inspection is currently recruiting for qualified Heat Treat Technicians to support our operation in Kansas City, MO. The Heat Treat Technician performs heat treatment operations with limited supervision, setting up and operating furnaces, ovens, and quenching systems according to process specifications. This role interprets work orders, verifies temperature and time parameters, and ensures that treated materials meet metallurgical and dimensional requirements.
The Heat Treat Technician II conducts hardness and microstructure checks, troubleshoots process deviations, and maintains accurate process documentation. This intermediate-level position requires strong technical understanding of heat treatment methods, equipment operation, and safety protocols, with the ability to train and support junior technicians.
- Set up of Pre-Heat and Stress Relief equipment
- Ability to perform machining work (a plus)

- Promote a positive safety culture
- Complete JHA’s
- Communicate effectively with Project Manager, QC Manager, and Supervisor
- Maintain morale and professional presentation
- Produce charts, Heat Treat reports, Hardness Testing reports to submit to QC
- Other work duties as assigned
- Working knowledge of heat treatment processes (annealing, normalizing, quenching, tempering) and metallurgical principles affecting material properties.
- Ability to set up, operate, and monitor furnaces, ovens, and quenching systems in accordance with process specifications.
- Skill in interpreting work orders, technical instructions, and temperature/time parameters to ensure compliance with requirements.
- Proficiency in performing hardness testing and basic microstructure evaluations to verify metallurgical and dimensional standards.
- Ability to troubleshoot process deviations, identify equipment irregularities, and implement corrective actions.
- Strong documentation skills to accurately record heat treat cycles, inspection results, and process data.
- Knowledge of safety protocols and ability to work independently with limited supervision while supporting and training junior technicians.
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- 2+ years of experience in Heat Treat field
