Set-Up Specialist/Operator
Reporting to the Printing Shift Supervisor, the Set-Up Specialist/Operator in the Printing Department is responsible for job start-up and on-line adjustments of printing presses for the production runs of rigid plastic containers and lids. The standard work will consist of normal activities - assess product quality and adjust printing presses to ensure standards are maintained and periodical activities - performing colour match and registration and complete first article inspection as directed by the Cell Lead or Group Lead.
PositionResponsibilities
Colour Match & Registration of All Lid and Base Presses
- Includes all six and eight colour presses
- Sets roller and press pressures
- Registers the print job
- Matches all ink colours to job standard
- Meets standards for set-up time, scrap and quality
- Completes operator section of the First Article Inspection.
- Run press for two boxes to verify set-up is acceptable
- Sign off on appropriate documentation after checks are performed.
- Tear Down, Wash, Set-Up of Printing Presses
- Perform job kit verification
- Line Clearance
- Replace plates
- Run all lid and base presses (includes all six and eight colour presses)
- Packing boxes according to customer requirements
- Take trending tray samples
- Applying labels and stamp every box
Monitor Product Quality and Adjust Presses
- Follow normal standard work routine
- Visually inspect product on trending tray according to test plan
- Makes necessary adjustments to maintain product quality
- Informs QA as soon as defective product is detected
Performs Product Control Duties
- Updates job cards
- Enters information on Daily Machine Scheduling and Attainment Board (White Board)
Performs Non-Mechanical Trouble Shooting
- Diagnosis product/process problems and take appropriate action
- Escalate problems to Cell Leader
Adheres to Company Policies and Procedures

- Adhere to 5S, HACCP and Health and Safety rules
Educational Requirements:
High School diploma or equivalent
Minimum Experience/Field:
Previous experience in a manufacturing environment is an asset

Fluent in English with good verbal and written communication skills
Physical Requirements:
This job requires the majority of the time to be spent on the air-conditioned shop floor exposed to a noisy environment. Protective equipment must be worn when required.
