Mill Controller; Rolling Mill

Job Overview

SA Steelworks is seeking a Mill Controller at Airport Industria, Cape Town. The successful candidate will provide support to the Rolling Mill, ensuring consistent production and maintaining precision equipment. A skills test will be required for interview consideration.

• Maintain a high level of production across the milling department.
• Oversee machinery and equipment in the department.
• Plan and implement cleaning and maintenance schedules for rolling stands.
• Ensure quality control in line with company standards.
• Compile detailed status feedback reports on stands, including operation status, parameters, failures, and maintenance needs.
• Conduct comprehensive shift handovers and report issues clearly.
• Work overtime as dictated by plant operational status.
• Abide by OHS Act regulations and company policies.

• Matric certificate with mathematics and science.
• Studying toward an engineering qualification is advantageous.
• Minimum 5 years of mechanical experience in a similar environment.
• Proficient PC skills (Excel, Word, Outlook).
• Ability to meet rolling targets under operational requirements.
• Capable of working under pressure in a demanding environment.
• Strong communication and reporting skills; ability to collaborate closely with the Mill foreman.

• 07:00 – 19:00 Dayshift.
• 19:00 – 07:00 Night shift.
• Work at rotating shifts with a detailed roster provided.
