The Registered Nurse is responsible for assessing, managing, directing, and providing nursing care activities during patients’ hospital stay and coordinating planning with other disciplines while maintaining a patient/customer driven approach. Core duties include:
- Performs comprehensive nursing assessment and reassessment.
- Obtains family/guardian input as appropriate and documents findings accurately.
- Assesses admission, transfer, and post‑operative patients and documents education, discharge needs, and nursing interventions.
- Develops, coordinates, and evaluates individualized care plans based on assessment data, diagnoses, lab results, physician orders, protocols, and standards of care.
- Establishes short‑ and long‑term goals and formulates evidence‑based nursing interventions to achieve desired outcomes.
- Collaborates with health team members to coordinate daily care plans and communicates patient status through accurate handoff reports.
- Administers medications, monitors IV therapy, maintains documentation, and completes referrals or consultations as indicated.
- Provides patient and family education, clarifies physician orders, assists physicians with procedures, and documents “readback” for verbal orders.
- Recognizes changes in patient condition, responds appropriately, involves family in care decisions, and implements infection control practices.
- Evaluates effectiveness of care, patient education, and care plans; reports significant changes and utilizes problem‑solving processes.
Minimum Education
:
Licensed Registered Nurse in the state of Missouri.
Required Licenses (for each applicable state):
- MO:
Registered Nurse (RN) – Missouri Division of Professional Registration or RN issued by Compact State. - IL:
Registered Professional Nurse (RN) – Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation. - OK:
Registered Nurse (RN) – Oklahoma Board of Nursing or RN issued by Compact State. - WI:
Registered Nurse (RN) – Wisconsin Department of Safety and Professional Services or RN issued by Compact State.
Basic Life Support (BLS) Health Care Provider – American Heart Association (AHA) is required for all states.
