Job Summary
Full‑time Registered Nurse in the Operating Room at Lee’s Summit Medical Center.
Position Details- Self‑preferential scheduling posted four weeks in advance.
- Culture of mutual respect and collaboration among surgical staff.
- Continuous investment in equipment and patient positioning to support safety and efficiency.
- Rounding with unit leaders (including charge nurses) to incorporate staff input on patient care and workflow improvements.
- On‑call required during select non‑business hours.
- Evaluate patients prior to surgery.
- Provide patient and family education surrounding the procedure and peri‑operative process.
- Assume responsibility for patient preparation, including intravenous therapy, preoperative medications, and surgical site verification.
- Participate in surgical site verification, including briefing, time‑out, debriefing, and universal protocols per hospital policy.
- Recognize and respond to patient emergencies.
- Deliver high‑quality, patient‑centered care while managing evidence‑based practice and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Work as an integral member of a dynamic interdisciplinary team (providers, surgeons, surgical technologists, and others).
- Consistently apply nursing process, critical thinking, scientific judgment, technical skills, and leadership to deliver safe nursing care independently.
- Assess patient condition, monitor throughout shift, and document changes and care provided thoroughly.
- Educate patients and families/caregivers about medical condition, treatment, and follow‑up measures.
- Registered Nurse in the state of Missouri, active and in good standing.
- Basic Cardiac Life Support (RN) certification.
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support certification obtained within 6 months of employment start date.
