Travel RN - Med​/Surg Float Pool

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a MS/Tele Float Pool position requiring active MO or compact licensure, at least 2 years of recent specialty experience, and a willingness to float between units and facilities.

• Active RN license in Missouri (MO) or a compact RN license currently in hand; both Kansas and Missouri licensure must be in hand prior to start due to floating requirements
• Current BLS and NIHSS certifications required; ACLS preferred
• Minimum 2 years of recent MS/Tele specialty experience required, with at least 1 full year of in-specialty experience within the past 12 months and no employment gap greater than 90 days in the past year
• Epic EMR experience strongly recommended given required charting system
• Candidate's home address must be at least 75 miles from the facility to be eligible for this position
• 2 professional references required: at least one must be supervisor-level or above, the second may be a charge RN; all references must be from individuals who have worked with the candidate within the past year
• SSN required for consideration

• Night shift position, 3x12-hour shifts (18:45–07:15)
• MS/Tele Float Pool serving a 30-bed unit with a patient census of up to 30
• Patient ratio of 1:5
• Wide variety of intermediate-level patient cases including stroke (CVA/TIA), heart failure, respiratory failure, pneumonia, GI bleed, syncope, ETOH withdrawal, suicidal ideation, COVID/flu,
  
  C. diff, CBI, renal failure, cardiac drips, heparin management, and post-surgical patients requiring higher-level monitoring
• Required skills include telemetry interpretation and dysrhythmia management, cardiac monitoring, emergency response/Rapid Response Team use, feeding tube care, pre/post hemodialysis management, blood product administration, central/peripheral/PICC line management, IV starts, heparin protocols, cardiac drip management (no titration), CVA and pre/post neurosurgery care, HFNC, ABG interpretation, non-invasive airway management, wound care/wound vac, and isolation precautions
• Preferred skills include port access, vasoactive drip management (no titration), PCA, traumatic brain injury care, ortho trauma, total joint replacements, chest tubes, BiPAP/CPAP management, and tracheostomy management
• Regular floating between departments, units, and facilities is required
• 8 weekend shifts required per 6-week scheduling period (combination of Friday, Saturday, and Sunday)
• Charge RN assignments and holiday shift coverage required as needed
• No on-call requirement
• Charting performed in Epic
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply
• RTO is capped at 7 days for the duration of the contract
• Block scheduling is not available for this position
• Local candidates (within 50 miles of the facility) are not eligible for this position
• Travel partners are not accepted
• Pre-assignment online modules totaling approximately 10–15 hours are required as part of compliance and must be completed prior to start
• No more than 7 days of RTO will be approved for the contract period
