Overview
American Traveler is hiring a travel RN for a Med/Surg Telemetry (PCU) position at a 240-bed community hospital, requiring 2 years of recent specialty experience and both MO and KS RN licenses in hand.
Requirements- Active RN license — both Missouri (or compact) and Kansas licenses must be in hand at time of consideration, as floating between facilities may require multi-state licensure
- Pending licenses are not accepted
- Required certifications: BLS and NIHSS; ACLS required; CPI preferred
- Minimum 2 years of recent Med/Surg Telemetry specialty experience required, with at least 1 full year of in-specialty experience within the past 12 months and no employment gap greater than 90 days in the past year
- Community hospital experience required; prior charge RN experience preferred
- Candidates must reside at least 75 miles from the facility to be eligible
- 2 professional references required: at least one must be supervisor-level or above; the second may be a charge RN; both must be from individuals who have worked with the candidate within the past year
- Night shift position: 3x12-hour shifts, 18:45–07:15
- Med/Surg Telemetry (PCU) unit in a 240-bed community hospital with a 16-bed ICU
- Patient population includes cardiac (AMI, arrhythmia, heart failure, chest pain, pre/post cath), vascular, sepsis, pneumonia, GI bleed, ETOH withdrawal, SI, and intermediate-level care patients
- Patient ratio of 1:5
- Telemetry monitoring required on unit, including interpretation and management of dysrhythmias
- Procedures and skills include cardiac drip management (no titration), vasoactive drip management (no titration), heparin protocols, PCA, central/PICC/peripheral line management, blood product administration, chest tubes (Emerson/Pleur-evac), CPAP/BiPAP, HFNC, tracheostomy management, CVA care, wound care/wound vac, and femoral line/groin site management
- Preferred skills include sheath removal, port access, phlebotomy, and total joint replacement care
- Charting via Epic (experience required)
- 8 weekend shifts required per 6-week scheduling period, with shifts falling on Friday, Saturday, or Sunday
- Regular floating between departments, units, and facilities may be required
- No on-call requirements

- RTO is capped at 7 days for the contract period; RTO requests must be submitted at time of consideration
- Travel partners are not accepted for this position
- Onboarding includes 10–15 hours of compliance modules, generally completed prior to start
- Holiday coverage and charge RN assignments required as needed per unit
- Block scheduling is not available for this position
