American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Tele (PCU) position at a community hospital, requiring at least 2 years of recent specialty experience and both MO and KS RN licenses in hand.
Details- 240-bed community hospital with a 16-bed ICU
- Med/Surg Telemetry (PCU) unit serving a diverse patient population including cardiac, neurological, respiratory, GI, GU/renal, and post-procedural cases
- Patient conditions include AMI, cardiac arrhythmia, heart failure, chest pain, vascular/PVD, sepsis/infection, pneumonia, ETOH withdrawal, SI, GI bleed, and pre/post cath patients
- Patient ratio of 1:5
- Night shift, 3x12-hour shifts (18:45–07:15)
- 8 weekend shifts required per 6-week scheduling period, with shifts falling on any combination of Friday, Saturday, or Sunday
- Regular floating may be required between departments, units, and facilities
- No on-call requirements
- Charting via Epic
- Telemetry monitoring equipment used on unit
- Parking is free
- Active MO RN license (or compact equivalent) and KS RN license — both must be in hand at time of consideration; unwillingness to float across state lines may result in cancellation
- Minimum 2 years of recent Med/Surg Tele specialty experience required, with at least 1 full year of in-specialty experience within the past 12 months and no employment gap greater than 90 days in the past year
- Community hospital experience required
- Required certifications: BLS, NIHSS
- Preferred certifications: ACLS, CPI
- Required clinical skills include: cardiac dysrhythmia interpretation and management, telemetry monitoring, rapid response, post cardiac angiogram/cath/MI care, feeding tube management, pre/post hemodialysis management, blood product administration, central/PICC/peripheral line care, IV starts, heparin protocols, non-titrated cardiac and vasoactive drip management, PCA, CVA care, chest tube management (Emerson/Pleur-evac), CPAP/BiPAP, HFNC, ABG interpretation, tracheostomy management, isolation precautions, and wound care/wound vac
- Preferred skills include: sheath removal, port access, phlebotomy, and total joint replacement care
- Previous charge RN experience preferred
- 2 professional references required — one must be supervisor-level or above; the second may be a charge RN; all references must be from individuals who have worked with the candidate within the past year
- Pending licenses are not accepted
- Navy scrubs required
- Charge RN assignments may be required as needed per unit
- Holiday shift coverage required as needed per unit
- Candidates must reside at least 75 miles from the facility to be eligible; local candidates are not accepted
- RTO requests are limited to a maximum of 7 days for the contract
- Block scheduling is not available
- Travel partners are not accepted for this position
- Orientation modules are required as part of onboarding compliance (approximately 10–15 hours total) and are completed prior to start
