General FunctionResponsible for filling customer orders, handling food safely, ordering and receiving products, ensuring order accuracy, labeling, dating, and storing products, and providing courteous, friendly, and efficient customer service.

Accountable to and reports to:
District Store Director, Store Manager, Assistant Managers of Perishables, Store Operations, and Health & Wellness Home;
Food Service Director;
Deli Department Manager. No positions report to this role.
- Provide prompt, efficient, friendly customer service, exhibiting care, concern, and patience.
- Greet customers, learn and use their names when possible.
- Assist customers by escorting them to products, securing out‑of‑reach items, handling heavy items, noting suggestions, and performing tasks to enhance shopping experience.
- Answer the telephone promptly and provide service, including taking phone orders.
- Take in‑store orders at the Delicatessen counter.
- Work as a team to ensure customer satisfaction and a pleasant environment.
- Review orders for the day and ensure accuracy.
- Practice proper sanitation procedures; keep work area clean and neat.
- Check status and appearance of food for freshness.
- Maintain an adequate food supply and follow a production list.
- Prepare, finish, and replenish product as needed.
- Pull product from cooler/freezer for preparation.
- Check in product, put product away, and review invoices.
- Operate the department register, handle payments, make change.
- Remove trash promptly.
- Adhere to guidelines on personal hygiene, dress, and company policies.
- Report to work on time and according to schedule.
- Wash dishes as necessary.
- Order product and supplies as necessary.
- Price product for customers as necessary.
- Deliver orders as needed.
- Assist in other store areas as needed.
- Perform other job‑related duties and special projects as required.
- Follow detailed written or verbal instructions.
- Perform simple addition and subtraction; count and record numbers.
- Write identifying information.
- Request supplies orally or in writing.
High school diploma or equivalent, Food Safety Certification, and completed online cheese training. Minimum six months of similar or related experience.
Physical RequirementsCapacities to exert up to 50 lbs occasionally, 20 lbs frequently, and 10 lbs constantly. Must be able to climb, balance, stoop, kneel, reach, stand, walk, push, pull, lift, grasp, feel, talk, hear, and perform repetitive motions. Vision requirements: vision from 20 inches or less to more than 20 feet, with or without correction, depth perception, and field of vision.
Working ConditionsContinual exposure to meat, cheese, dust, noise, and temperature extremes. Occasional exposure to cleaning chemicals and solvents. Fast‑paced environment with significant pressure.
Equipment UsedSlicer, scale, shrink wrap machine, register, walk‑in cooler, knives, serving cases, and C.A.R.S. system.
Contacts- Daily contact with internal customers and the general public.
- Weekly contact with suppliers/vendors.
- Contact with Federal/State governmental or regulatory agencies as necessary.
