Job Overview

Position: Mobile Diesel Technician II – DOT Management Level, Individual Contributor (Flexible Work Option with remote component)

Location: Must live in specified city, state or region (can work remotely, but travel required 100% of the time)

Shift: Day shift, Monday to Friday, 6:00AM – 2:30PM

Compensation: Hourly base pay $26.73 – $40.10 per hour (range varies by location and qualifications) plus potential commission or incentive program. New hire bonus of $3,000 (50% after 30 days, 50% after 180 days).

Responsibilities
  • Perform scheduled preventative maintenance (PM), DOT inspections, and follow‑up repairs on light, medium, and heavy‑duty vehicles in a mobile/field environment.
  • Conduct minor adjustments and repairs on truck equipment (electrical, brake, cooling, starters/alternators, fan clutches, engine electronics, diesel steering, engines (gas & diesel), transmissions, clutches, differentials, etc.).
  • Diagnose, adjust, and repair equipment using testing instruments such as handheld computers and pressure gauges.
  • Road‑test vehicles to diagnose malfunctions and ensure proper operation.
  • Identify problems, assess relevance of information, and generate alternative solutions using sound judgment.
  • Independently manage parts inventory and equipment on company‑issued service truck, performing periodic reconciliation.
  • Maintain and operate the service vehicle, conduct safety checks and pre‑/post‑trip inspections.
  • Communicate with clients and customers to assess needs, provide assistance, and resolve problems.
  • Prioritize concurrent tasks and manage time allocations effectively.
  • Use hand tools, precision instruments, diesel tools, welding equipment, lifts, and jacks as needed.
  • Document work according to company standards; upload pictures and parts used to Repair Orders (RO) via iOS device and TRAIT application.
  • Accurately complete DOT and other required documentation promptly.
  • Work independently and manage own daily schedule; maintain productivity within standard repair times.
  • Obtain parts from approved vendors; communicate with management for repair estimates and approval.
  • Perform all work in compliance with safety, health, environmental, OSHA, EPA, and DOT regulations.
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or GED plus 3 years of related experience (alternative combinations acceptable).
  • Supply a set of hand tools necessary for required duties.
  • Ase T8 (PMI) certification within 18 months of hire.
  • Pass DOT‑regulated pre‑employment background screening and DOT physical.
  • Valid DOT medical card with at least 4 months remaining; if less, a DOT physical is required.
  • Must be 21 years or older; valid driver's license and ability to maintain Driver Qualification File.
  • Safe driving record required.
