Position Purpose

Responsible for diagnosing and repairing medium to heavy‑duty trucks, trailers, reefer units, converter dollies and maintenance vehicles, ensuring compliance with all State and Federal trucking regulations. Communicates and interacts with co‑workers while documenting work orders and parts usage. Performs road‑call services as needed.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Perform preventative maintenance, minor repairs, and standard component inspections for fleet diesel equipment (tractors, trailers, refrigeration units). Identify root causes of failures and perform repairs.
  • Inspect brake systems, steering mechanisms, wheel bearings and other critical parts, replacing components as necessary.
  • Verify equipment licensing and registration prior to road‑worthiness.
  • Complete thorough documentation for work orders using the online Enterprise Asset Management system.
  • Install, replace, and repair onboard computers.
  • Use hand tools (screwdrivers, pliers, wrenches, pressure gauges, precision instruments) and power tools (pneumatic wrenches, welding equipment, jacks, hoists).
  • Conduct routine maintenance such as oil changes, battery checks, lubrication and other hand‑tool tasks.
  • Train other employees.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent.
  • 5‑7 years of experience repairing medium to heavy‑duty vehicles, including PMs, tire & wheel work, air & air‑disc brakes, diagnosis, computerized diagnostics, electrical troubleshooting, electronic component repair.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in A/C refrigeration.
