Job Title
Responsible for operating Vermeer heavy and light construction equipment, including backhoes, rock saws, excavators, cable plows, directional drills, trenchers, front-end loaders, air compressors, locating equipment, hydraulic reel trailers and other types of machinery supporting a major telecommunications infrastructure project. This position is required to travel 80% of the time to complete different projects as needed.
Major Duties And Responsibilities
Operates construction equipment and ability to drive truck.
Operate construction equipment to facilitate alignment, movement and adjustment of machinery to conform to grade specifications.
Perform proper maintenance by greasing, oiling and making minor repairs on equipment.
Ensure safety of the public and other utilities underground facilities.
Set up and cleanup of work site including traffic and pedestrian control.
Other duties as necessary.
Required Qualifications
Required Skills/Abilities and Knowledge
Ability to read, write, speak and understand English
Possess general knowledge of construction practices
Knowledge of reading and understanding blue prints
This position is required to travel 80% of the time to complete different projects as needed.
Required Education
High school diploma or General Education Diploma
Required Related Work Experience and Number of Years
2+ years in underground utility installation methods
Practical working experience with underground construction for both conduit and fiber installation
Preferred Qualifications
Preferred Skills/Abilities and Knowledge
OSHA safety certifications
Operator Qualifications
Class A CDL
Valid driver's license
Preferred Education
Preferred Related Work Experience and Number of Years
5+ years in conduit and fiber installation methods
Working Conditions
Work outdoors in all kinds of weather and at all times of the day or night
Work performed near power lines and electricity
Work and travel in inclement weather
May require extended hours including evenings and weekends
Physical And Mental Requirements

Lift and carry up to 50lbs
Requires bending, squatting, climbing, kneeling, pushing, and pulling
