Staff Assistant
This position provides support to the Child Protective Investigations and will be located in the Family Safety program. Examples of work performed include providing clerical support for a multi-function Family Safety Unit, meeting the public as a receptionist, maintaining a working knowledge of the Department of Children and Families and community resources, preparing intake case records, typing correspondence, reviewing typed materials for accuracy, and preparing mileage reimbursement for Family Safety staff.
Knowledge, skills, and abilities required include understanding office procedures, effective communication, data collection methods, basic arithmetic, rules, regulations, and procedures, dealing with the public tactfully, performing basic arithmetical calculations, working independently, problem-solving techniques, planning, organizing, coordinating work assignments, effective communication, and maintaining effective work relationships.
Minimum requirements include three years of secretarial or clerical work experience, college education or vocational/technical training, a high school diploma or its equivalent, ability to lift 25 lbs. or more, telephone etiquette, and completion of a background screening.
