Production Manager

The primary responsibility of the Production Manager is to plan, oversee, and supervise all production operations within a designated area to optimize the organization's resources and achieve set production standards and timetables. This includes meeting targets for volume, cost, waste reduction, safety, and quality. The Production Manager will create and follow manufacturing schedules and procedures, as well as assign workforce and financial resources to boost productivity.

This position will consistently assess employees and their equipment to identify areas for improvement. Moreover, this role involves leading, managing, assessing, and fostering a team of supervisors, shift leads, and employees responsible for various production tasks such as assembly, raw production, machine operation, processing, treatment, or packaging. Depending on the specific department or area of responsibility, additional responsibilities may include:

  • Injection Molding– The manager should have expertise in all levels of injection molding operators and setting up processes for new molds. They will oversee the entire process from concept to completion, regularly initiating mold change programs and starting full line operations.
  • Concrete Operations– The manager should be knowledgeable about all concrete operation levels and may supervise night shifts as needed at the assigned facility.

Essential Duties

  • Ensures the achievement of all plant safety objectives and protocols.
  • Maintains a clean plant floor and eliminates safety hazards.
  • Reviews accidents and offers recommendations for prevention.
  • Oversees the recruitment, onboarding, training, and performance evaluation of staff.
  • Adheres to all plant-wide OSHA regulations and promptly reports any concerns.
  • Cultivates a cohesive team environment to enhance collaborative goal achievement.
  • Supervises and evaluates performance of production personnel (e.g. operators, quality inspectors, assemblers).
  • Determines necessary resources needed to meet targeted results, while also meeting anticipated labor cost projections.
  • Develops workflow processes and procedures to improve efficiency without compromising safety or product quality.
  • Evaluates machine resources to ensure continued production and minimal downtime.
  • Enforces health and safety precautions across site while identifying areas to improve or minimize risks.
  • Analyzes production, maintenance, and malfunction records to identify problems and recommend solutions for enhancing performance.
  • Collaborates with cross-functional or operational team to understand their present and future product requirements, assisting in developing ideas, cost projections, and timetables for executing overall operational improvements.
  • Plans, prioritizes, and manages production line maintenance or downtimes to reduce disturbances to manufacturing timetables.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications, Skills, Abilities and Educational Requirements

  • Required:

    High School Diploma/GED, or an additional 2 – 4 years of experience in lieu of education. 8 – 10 years of progressive experience leading a fast-paced manufacturing environment. Experience in all areas of the production line supervised, preferably at Diversi Tech, but external similar experience is acceptable. Intermediate experience utilizing Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Visio). Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.

    Experience working in a fast paced and high-volume work environment. Proactive "self-starter" with a strong attention to detail. Willingness to go above and beyond to meet or exceed job requirements. Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to interact with all employee levels including executive management. Valid Driver's License.

    Key Competencies

Consistent interaction with hourly production/distribution team members, senior management, and office personnel. Provides direction to production line workers and manages employee issues, schedules, etc. May supervise one or more departments.
