RN Shift | Inpatient Psychiatric Hospital

Position: RN (6+) - Shift 1 | Inpatient Psychiatric Hospital (1353)
Job Purpose:

* The RN position is integral to the efficient functioning of the assigned Unit. They will, by virtue of their role, be responsible for providing professional psychiatric nursing care, via own task functions and supervision of the task of other nursing personnel on their shift. Ensures all members of on his/her team provide quality and effective nursing care.

Key Responsibilities:

* Consumer Assessment:
Conducting comprehensive assessments to understand consumers' mental health status, including their history, symptoms, and current functioning.

* Care Planning:
Developing and implementing individualized treatment plans based on patient needs, treatment goals, and evidence-based practices.

* Medication Administration:
Administering psychiatric medications and monitoring their effects, including potential side effects.

* Ability to successfully complete initial and annual Techniques for Effective Aggression Management (TEAM) physical restraint and verbal de-escalation training

* Patient Advocacy:
Advocating for consumers' needs, rights, and preferences within the behavioral health facility.

* Crisis Management:
Responding to psychiatric emergencies and providing stabilization for consumers experiencing acute distress or dangerous behaviors.

* Documentation:
Maintaining accurate and thorough medical records and documentation of consumer care.

* Ensures client activities take place as scheduled

* Respond promptly and effectively to emergency situations, providing leadership and guidance as needed.
