Overview
The Retail Assistant Store Manager at Office Depot plays a pivotal role in driving total sales and service growth within our stores. Enthusiasm and expertise will help us create and nurture a vibrant sales culture, enhancing our store's visual and merchandising standards, freight, and logistics activities, and prioritizing unparalleled client satisfaction. Assistant Manager will help lead a customer‑centric environment, engage with the local community, all while fostering a positive culture aligned with the Office Depot 5C values of Customer, Commitment, Change, Caring, and Creativity.
Retail Assistant Store Manager will be a “Key Carrier” and considered a leader. All Retail Assistant Store Manager’s must be able to work flexible evenings, weekends, and occasional holidays. In addition, full‑time assistance is required. The Assistant Store Manager role is essential in driving our store's success through inspiring sales brilliance and exceptional service.
- Partner with the management team to drive memorable customer experiences and ensure the execution of Office Depot selling techniques and sales training across the store.
- Foster a sales‑focused environment through assisting with the training and act as a role model for delivering exceptional customer service and product.
- Process merchandise accurately and efficiently, adhering to established procedures, deadlines, and visual merchandising standards.
- Identify areas for process improvement and implement plans to reduce waste.
- Assist the General Manager in providing guidance and effective coaching to associates for improved performance.
- Contribute to increasing sales and profitability through conversion, average order value (AOV), and customer satisfaction improvement initiatives.
- Provide guidance, direction, and ongoing training to store associates.
- Facilitate training sessions on the business model and the holistic service offering for clients/customers.
- Build a culture of trust and brand loyalty.
- Manage the assessment of store associates' performance, certifications, and maintain the safety and security of the building and associates during the deactivation of the store's alarm system, cash handling, and daily store operations. As a leader in the store, ensure regular loss prevention compliance.
- High school diploma or equivalent required;
Bachelor’s preferred in Business, Marketing, Retail, or related field. - Retail, sales, customer‑facing, and/or basic computer skills; advanced selling skills and strong customer focus.
- Proven leadership: able to lead, coach, motivate, and manage conflict.
- Strong problem‑solving, time‑management, and ability to plan, prioritize, and brand products, services, and solutions.
The organization operates through a business‑to‑business (B2B) distribution platform and omnichannel presence, which includes world‑class supply chain and distribution operations, dedicated sales professionals, online presence, and a network of Office Depot and Office Max retail stores.
