Equipment Operator

Equipment Operator – Loudon County, VA

We are seeking Equipment Operators to run excavators, dozers and loaders on the Cross trail Boulevard project.

• Check all fluids before starting the engine.
• Work with pipe/utility crews, working safely inside a trench box.
• Work on heavy highway and bridge projects, moving or placing materials.
• Receive written or oral instructions from supervisor.
• Perform routine maintenance such as lubricating, fueling, and cleaning.
• Observe and understand markings on the ground, hand signals, or grade stakes.
• Operate equipment in a safe and responsible manner.
• When operator work is not available, assist crews by performing other duties as requested.

Education and Experience: Minimum five years of related experience or training; prior experience in the position is required.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: Certified or approved by the Safety Department or competent person and must pass a practical test.

The role requires climbing onto equipment, lifting up to 40 pounds, standing, walking, climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and using both hands for steering and controls. It also demands good vision including close, distance, peripheral, depth perception, and focus adjustment.

Work includes exposure to moving mechanical parts, weather, fumes, airborne particles, vibration, chemicals, and electrical shock. Noise levels are usually loud; work may be in isolated or high traffic areas.

Expected hourly pay: $25.00 – $35.00.
